Tim Kent left art school in 1985 and worked an apprenticeship in fashion photography before switching to portraits in the late 1980’s. After 10 years shooting musicians and celebrities primarily in the electronic music scene, Tim had the opportunity to jump ships to work in the lucrative car advertising market, shooting pan European and global ad campaigns for major brands such as Audi, Mini, Chevrolet, Lexus, Rolls Royce, BMW and Nissan. After many years working in the automotive industry, latterly predominantly in the USA. Tim changed direction once more and started shooting studio still-life in order to be based in London and near to his three children. In 2017 Tim decided to revisit his early ambitions of fashion photography and set out to shoot a broad portfolio, much of which can be seen in the fashion section on this site. Tim lives in Brixton, south London, and has a studio at Elephant and Castle SE17. Tim is also the co-founder and editor of avant-garde fashion magazine Rotor, and has plans for 2024 that include the launch of a new project: Radar Gallery. Tim is available for public speaking engagements, giving talks on his work and career, offering constructive advice to newcomers in the photo industry.
